THE GREATEST GIFT

Thought

I think this is a great quote! My interpretation of it is in three parts.

GRATITUDE

First, the gratitude for life and your loved ones is reciprocated through living and how you decide to live. You never know if the opportunities you have will always be there or how long your life will be so you should take advantage by doing your best and making the most out of living.

JOURNEY

Secondly, we can get a lot of results but the journey can also be very fulfilling. What I mean is, living your life in a way that you can create special experiences moment-to-moment can really make living at your best worth it, regardless of the final outcomes, but based on your steady inputs. With that said, you’ll probably produce great results anyhow.

EXAMPLE

Lastly, wouldn’t it be great to know that you set an example for others and they made amazing experiences out of their lives based on how they saw you do it first? The ripple effect could be tremendous if they continue to be the example for others to follow. And it all starts with you and the choices you make to live at your best. Think about it for a second, it’s a complete win-win and all it costs is for you to do your best with what you have. I’m not saying that you’re not already trying to live at your best but just to be more intentional about it. Totally worth it!

BRAVER THAN YOU BELIEVE

Thought

This quote reminds me that we all have greatness within us.  Sometimes we choose to focus on things that don’t empower us or help us achieve our potential. It’s good to know that we have an abundance of ability that doesn’t get tapped out when we attempt to do things. We almost always have more that we are capable of doing than our first few attempts. We can tap into that internal resource by putting our attention in the right place.

Some people genuinely don’t know, so let me tell you. There’s so much more that you can do than you’ve ever done. There’s so much more that you can be than you’ve ever been. There’s so much further that you can go than you’ve ever gone. Don’t limit yourself –  don’t let you hold you back.

The reason this is important to know because there is an amazing life waiting for you to live. As good as things are and as good as things have been, you’re only scratching the surface. There are times when life hits you with a hard blow that makes you want to just take it easy. But other than that, is it possible to enjoy yourself too much? To be too happy? To feel too good? I don’t think so.
Just keep this in mind: you are an incredible being and the more you can demonstrate that the more life is worth living…  because you’re really living. Just apply yourself. Put your back in to it! Put your heart in to it. Be curious about discovering your own greatness.

POSSIBILITIES OF SUCCESS

Thought

What this means to me goes way beyond feeling optimistic or trying to be positive. This is about putting your mind on things that actually can produce great results. You can start testing things out with trial and error or it could take some research but when all is said and done, it’s better that you put your efforts into things that can produce than to worry about things that don’t.

Worrying does nothing good for your accomplishments. There are definitely things that you should be concerned about but you still need to make sure you control the controllables. In some instances, failure is a staircase that takes your success to higher levels. If that is the case, you still shouldn’t worry about it. Instead, use it for what it’s worth. A springboard for new accomplishments or at least good experience to improve future decisions.

You’re better off working on discovering what you can create and exploring creative ways to achieve your goals. It’s difficult enough trying to overcome obstacles and adversity. Use your mind as a resource to fuel your ambition. Everything won’t be successful but you will be significantly more successful when you concentrate on ways you can win.

MAGIC STARTS HAPPENING

GET OUT OF YOUR FEELINGS AND TAKE ACTION

I’ve noticed that individuals that lack confidence, usually talk about thoughts and feelings, while individuals that have an abundance of confidence, are usually focused on taking action.

This tells me that we need to let thoughts & feelings go and just get moving. It helps when we support our actions with enthusiasm. I believe that enthusiasm is the fuel of any successful task.

I’ve noticed that most successful people maintain a certain level of enthusiasm, no matter how go or bad things might get. When they are up, they are not through the roof and when they are down, they are not in deep sorrow. They don’t focus on the small stuff and they keep a fairly steady level of positive energy.

We can’t control how we feel but we can certainly control what we do about how we feel. Our thoughts, decisions and actions are all affected by our state of mind so we should control how we live instead of letting little things have power over us.

What THEY REALLY LACK

“Many people think they lack motivation when what they really lack is clarity.” ~James Clear

Thought

How to Follow Through With Your Goals

The punch line is clear: people who make a specific plan for when and where they will perform a new habit are more likely to follow through. Too many people try to change their habits without these basic details figured out. We tell ourselves, “I’m going to eat healthier” or “I’m going to write more,” but we never say when and where these habits are going to happen. We leave it up to chance and hope that we will “just remember to do it” or feel motivated at the right time. An implementation intention sweeps away foggy notions like “I want to work out more” or “I want to be more productive” or “I should vote” and transforms them into a concrete plan of action.

Many people think they lack motivation when what they really lack is clarity. It is not always obvious when and where to take action. Some people spend their entire lives waiting for the time to be right to make an improvement.

Once an implementation intention has been set, you don’t have to wait for inspiration to strike. Do I write a chapter today or not? Do I meditate this morning or at lunch? When the moment of action occurs, there is no need to make a decision. Simply follow your predetermined plan.

The simple way to apply this strategy to your habits is to fill out this sentence:

I will [BEHAVIOR] at [TIME] in [LOCATION].

  • I will meditate for one minute at 7 a.m. in my kitchen.
  • I will study Spanish for twenty minutes at 6 p.m. in my bedroom.
  • I will exercise for one hour at 5 p.m. in my local gym.
  • I will make my partner a cup of tea at 8 a.m. in the kitchen.

Give your habits a time and a space to live in the world. The goal is to make the time and location so obvious that, with enough repetition, you get an urge to do the right thing at the right time, even if you can’t say why.
