“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.” ~Vince Lombardi
Perfectly Imperfect
The definition of perfect is to be absolutely flawless, completely free from defects. You shouldn’t let the way you think of perfection set the bar unnecessarily high and takes your attention away from the areas you should appreciate. The disappointment you may feel from not being perfect can steal your enthusiasm & diminish your effort and focus.
Also, you learn and grow so much through your imperfections that you need to embrace the mistakes that help you move things forward to a more desired result.
So I propose this: Strive to be perfectly imperfect.
The imperfect part gives you permission to make mistakes and get a little messy sometimes when working towards a certain outcome. The perfect part can bring you a sense of confidence that things are going the way they should, even though there are flaws and maybe things to figure out.
When all is said and done, you should pursue excellence and not set your standards so high that you don’t value your contribution and experiences. The path to greatness isn’t fully paved.

Yes I really liked this message and presentation! I thought it was an interesting experiment and loved hearing you explain the message. If you are planning to do future days like this, I am interested to see how much time it will save me (today my morning routine was a bit off schedule).
Like today’s format in your voice. It didn’t save me any time though as I keep sometime to do 1% in the mornings (usually) and not multitask while doing this. I am sure it will save time on busy days when I can’t sit down to go through the blog.
Yes! Definitely I have become better being a 1percenttribe. Thank you
I really enjoyed this message and the way you have formatted the presentation and how you are actually in the videos. I think that because you are in the videos giving explanation, it gives more clarification on what is expected.
I loved today’s message format. It’s nice to read along while you explain the quote and thought.
Yes I liked this message, made it feel more personable because you were speaking directly to us.
i love 1% so happy i started and i don’t think there is anything to change in my eyes. i definitely have a different perspective at things because of 1%.
The message was great!!! I’m a visual person so I like to read and I grasp things better that way. Vocal messages do come in handy because if I’m running late and have no time to read the message I can just play it. I like to check my messages as soon as I get them or else I’ll forget about them so having both options is a plus. The message was great. Every time I strive for perfection I just wind up stressing myself out.
I agree with this message very much. You can never be perfect but you can always be you. You can keep improving and getting better while always enjoying life for what it is.
I really like this new format and hearing the message come from you is also really cool!
I didn’t like or dislike the message, I just understood it and will apply it to my life.
Today’s message about the benefits of chasing perfection (with the right mindset) underscores the author’s advice in Atomic Habits…
•Focus on and appreciate the process as you work towards a goal.
•Goals are vital because they set your objectives or targets, but systems are more important as systems are what get you to the objectives or targets.
• “Goals are about the results you want to achieve. Systems are about the processes that lead to those results.” ~ James Clear
I enjoyed today’s message! I do like watching the videos but nice to play audio when driving. Thanks Q!
Day 1: Despite intention, I found myself letting the anxiety of others impact my sense of calm. Tomorrow I will practice deep breathing when/if outside influences or negative thoughts surface.
Day 2: Better today although not where I need to be. There were multiple opportunities to negatively impact my calm – 4 hour drive in traffic, etc… I practiced deep breathing…
Day 3: I will support my teenage children but will let them make their own mistakes and learn from them. I won’t let the need to “fix” their shortfalls impact my day of clam and peace. Easier said than done 🙂 but that is today’s mission
Day 4: I feel good about yesterday. I didn’t raise my voice, which is a big accomplishment for me.. and overall, had a positive calm day. Today I will continue with the practice of acceptance, living in the moment and not taking everything so serious. Deep breathing is key.
Day 5: Not the best day… try again tomorrow
Day 6: No stress day. I was successful at keeping calm and focused on being productive and positive.
I really liked the message today. I always tell my students to please share answers and ideas. Try! That’s how we learn from our miatakes. Pushing for excellence I think is ongoing, in our careers, and relationships. Allowing ourselves to bumble through things for sure is better than not trying at all! Love it.
Love the message Q. It’s necessary for us to understand that road can get a little bumpy sometimes. Also, our flaws are what make us unique. Without flaws, would we be who we are?
I did appreciate hearing directly from you today the message reconnected me with why I joined an stay in the 1%Tribe. I fall off the wagon often and don’t keep up daily. Today I asked myself what that is about. I do not have a plan for 1%Tribe in my daily schedule. That changes today. Look for me tomorrow. Thanks for the personal push.
That’s awesome Denise! Glad to hear it 🙂
