Where Good Ideas Come From | Steven Johnson
- Take FIVE minutes to be an IDEA MACHINE! Come up with as many ideas you can. It doesn’t have to be practical because a wacky idea can spark real good ideas that can work better for you. This challenge should be fun.
- Do you give room [and time] for your hunches to evolve into ideas? Please share in the comments below.

I think I definitely need to work on giving myself more time for my hunches to evolve.
I think that the hunches that I have are being given time to grow. But most of the time, I am not really giving time for me to create and get ideas and hunches. I think I need to give more time to myself where I just think and come up with ideas and hunches.
I love when a hunch turns into an idea and that idea makes a difference in my life or the lives of others.
This happened when I had I hunch to abandon my decision to part ways with a particular organization (for good reason) but took a step towards faith and decided to reconnect.
This has lead me to meet some amazing people and allowed me to be in a place to help people that I would normally not have met
Right now this is the closest thing I have to a brainstorming group. But there’s something to be said for meeting in person and focusing on one another that makes us more productive. There are many things about our society right now that encourage self absorption and I don’t believe that it is good for us. There are definitely great things about technology, I just want the organic connection between people to continue.
I completely agree with this. Between modern technology and social media, there is less of a chance to connect in person. I find that when we connect in person it even leaves me with a greater feeling than connecting via tech.
I do give room for my hunches to evolve into ideas.. but rat this point in my life I haven’t been able to take that yo the next level. I have big ideas from this so one day I will
I definitely give time to my hunches and explore them, whether it’s personal training or a side hustle. As I’ve gotten older and earn more, I’ve started to feel more comfortable financially investing in hunches too. For me, spending money is what’s difficult. I’m not a gambler so I have to really talk myself into it and really get on board.
I definitely need to create more space and time for my hunches to become ideas.
I don’t really dedicate time for my hunches to turn into ideas. I think i should start doing that more because i usually just think about them for a short while and nothing ever gets done with them even though they may evolve into good ideas.
I definitely do not. I need to give myself more quiet time and silence. I feel like I’m always doing something and if not I’m watching or listening to something. I need to make time to just enjoy the quiet time and think.
I am moving to fast and my days ate too full 😩 to acknowledge hunches. I say that with sadness and disappointment. It is time to make a change.
I think you have to give your hunches time in order to grow into ideas. How much time you have to give, that’s all up to you. Certain ideas take a lot longer to develop because of the complexity of the problem you’re looking to solve. Patience is HUGE when It comes to developing ideas. I believe without patience, it is VERY tough for hunches to grow into ideas.
No I don’t and that’s because I’m inpatient. I want to see instant results, have instant gratification, and instant answers. I know this doesn’t have but sometimes my impatience just gets carried away. This mostly happens when I take on too many things and now I’m trying to rush the process.
