“What’s simple to do is also simple not to do.” ~Jim Rohn

- We are using small simple habits to improve by at least 1% but it is common and easy to neglect things that are simple. What can you do to keep it simple but make it important enough NOT to neglect doing? Please share in the comments.

This is one of my favorite quotes. I have been struggling to drink more water. Simple, right? Just do it! Well, it is important for all of the right reasons so the small habit to make it happen will be to keep a constant reminder with me when I am in the house- I will start and end each day with of water and have a bottle with me at all times. As each bottle is finished I will leave them in a place to Mark my accomplishments with the goal of 5 32 ounce bottles
It’s easy to envision and u plan to make the goal a habit one day at a time
I can add meditation into my morning routine. Make it a habit so it becomes important as waking up and brushing my teeth. Instead of scrolling on my phone while using the bathroom I can meditate.
One thing that is simple that I haven’t been doing so good at is drinking water. Over the summer I did a really good job, but once school started I haven’t done as good. Another thing that I can do better is not hitting the snooze button when I wake up. Although I only do it maybe once a week I would like to cut that out.
I need to get to bed earlier to feel better the next day. I find myself getting sucked in by my phone before I decide to go upstairs. Sometimes the one minute look turns into half an hour or more. I will stop checking my phone after 10 pm. There isn’t any information I need before the morning, and it will help stop the mindless scrolling.
Working out in the morning. I can make it about the time and not about the action. I’m going to focus on 30 minutes every morning and create a better consistent routine.
I am adding mindfulness meditation to my morning and then my evening routine. I am currently reading about all the benefits which helps me to stay interested
I would also like to read more. This is something that has escaped me all my life. I can read short informational work but tend to loose interest quickly in books. I am trying to listen to 1 book per month on auditable.
One simple thing to do is to make a short to do list for the day. I notice when I do this, I am more focused on what needs to be done during the day. I make appointments with myself making sure to show up!
Having reminders in my phone and a planner really help me with not neglecting things that are important to me. Even if I remember the reminder before it pops up on my phone, just seeing it pop up helps me to accomplish whatever I need to do for that day.
I think focusing on starting can keep things simple yet still important. I often feel like once I start I am doing the activity well. If we focus on the two or so mins that start the activity or habit then we are more likely to go through with it. It still keeps the activity or habit simple but it makes it more important to start as we are putting focus specifically on that.
It helps to write it down instead of planning it in mind thinking that it’s simple. List out the goals and keep revisiting end of the day to make sure I got through the list.
Something I simple I can do, is to get up in the morning right away, without hitting the snooze button or picking up my phone. This will get my day going with a good start.
I have been struggling to sleep more, I need to get to sleep earlier and that would improve my whole day
I would like to start drinking more water. I have been telling myself that I’m going to do but I haven’t really kept to that.
Drink water! One of the easiest things to do that will have a huge positive impact. I try to have a water bottle with me at all times.
I’ve been struggling to constantly drink more water during school and I feel like I should try to build that up more often.
Eat better consistently. It’s simple enough but not neglectable. It is something that could help me be more healthy and productive during my day.
Two things I aim to do every day is wake up at 4:30 am and spend 20 minutes doing my devotions. I am hitting this target 5 out of 7 days a week.
Since it is common and easy to neglect things that are simple, it may help to connect or attach a reward to each simple thing so you won’t forget or put off the tasks. Treating oneself to a prize (which can be anything from a hug to a Netflix movie after completing specific simple to-do’s that improve one’s life by at least 1%) can facilitate regular implementation of the simple things.
I need to visualize myself playing, competing, executing, and performing well. This is a simple task but helps lead to important and noticeable results.
