I grew up not fitting in, I wanted to, it just wasn’t in the cards for me. So I stood out and began to embrace it. Now I play a game with it. I want to be a thermostat not a thermometer. Example when I go into motor vehicle I don’t take the temperature of the room and say everyone’s annoyed I guess I’ll be annoyed too. Instead I start cracking jokes and smiling and most people smile back and are happy to have a different energy in the room.

I just try to be me. Sometimes that means I stand out and other times it means I fit in.

Me too! I like how you put that. Being myself doesn’t always mean I will stand out and fitting in is perfectly fine.

You have to be your authentic self! Because we all have specials gifts and talents, we are destined to stand out in some form or fashion. If you try to fit in, you will never leverage your natural strengths. Stand out and be U!

I would rather stand out. I find that in doing so I am able to take more responsibility for my actions, more people notice the things I’m doing. The daunting part of that is knowing that people are watching and will always have an opinion.

Learning to not give other people power over how I see myself and what choices I make helps reduce the fear of man and instill ownership of who I am and the choices I make.

Great insight Claryce! This is something I struggled with but I have learned to block out the noise and empower myself instead.

I like this quote because I was raised to be a leader not a Follower🤔. I agree that both are great. but I don’t think you should try to stand out but if you stand out because you are different or standing up for what you believe in that’s awesome🙋‍♀️

If I can only choose one, I choose to stand out. It reaps more benefits and self acceptance.

I think in most situations I’d rather stand out. Standing out gives you the confidence to meet new people, make new connections, and have more opportunities to experience.

I prefer to stand out because sometimes someone might need to see positive energy in action and it might spark joy.

I like to stand out. Well not really stand out, I call it marching to the bear of my own drum. I’m not a follower by no means. I like to do my own thing.

I would want to stand out because if your like everyone Else and you fit In like everyone else then you would be doing things that you might not want to, but if you stand out then you can set your own goals without anyone bothering.

I would rather stand out because I want to achieve greatness and I don’t think I can do that while fitting in.

Also before the quarantine, I have tried fitting in for my entire life. This last year I started trying to stand out and be different and I have improved more this year than most of my life.

Standing out not only makes me special, but there are certain qualities you can really achieve and develop only by standing out. For example, it is hard to be a hard worker and fit in, as the norm is to be chill and relax and use social media and watch TV with the free time you have. I honestly can’t think of one great person who has fits in. Can you?

Years ago, I would’ve probably said fit in. But as I aged, I learned that standing out is the only way to be noticed. Of course, being able to fit in has its perks, but standing out is what makes you special

When I was younger, I would have said fit in. As of now and for my future, I would rather stand out. Fitting in makes me lower my standards and to be successful we shouldn’t do that.

I am a person that tends to standout out more because of my interest and goals. I do believe however that there is a lot to be learned from fitting in as well. There are experiences that you may be able to be a part of or learn from because of the conversations or interactions you have with people.

I can’t always fit in, I do not always want to. I would much rather stand out, I could be myself. Fit in where, and with whom? I think you can lose some of yourself when you try to fit in and deny yourself of what makes you , you.
This lesson can be very difficult for our youth, with social media and the pressures of fake filters. Great message, and cool talking point.
