The concept of a 6 hour day is a new one for me. I’m still trying to grasp how that would look as a stay at home mom. My kids are all on a sleep schedule and I’m working to restructure what we do when they are awake and what I do when they are asleep.

As I restructure, with the concept of a 6 hour day in mind, I am now processing at what could I accomplish with a new perspective on time. Instead of 1 read aloud time a day, we could have 3. Instead of 1 daily office and quiet time with the Lord, I could have 3. Instead of one meaningful connection with my husband and family, I could have 3.

The list goes on and on of what this shift of perspective could mean for my current and future seasons of life.

Thank you for sharing!

I like your insights on how you will try to restructure your day. I think it will be great to fit more into the 24 hours and that it will also benefit your kids!

At first the concept seems overwhelming just because it is so new to me. But it is really just breaking down our days into smaller, more manageable time frames we can focus on. This is just like how we break our goals down into plans and objectives. This smaller time frame can help me stay productive and focussed throughout the entire 24 hours. This will take adjusting to, but I am looking forward to trying it. Thank you Coach Q!

I think you put this really well Scarlett. I was also feeling a little overwhelmed with such a new concept. But after thinking about what you said, I completely agree. By breaking down our days into different sections, we are really just allowing for a clean slate each time we enter a new one. I think this strategy would allow for better productivity because, with a mindset shift, we would potentially be rid of the feeling of overwork which so often appears at the end of a normal day.

3 six hour days for me would be a new concept for real. I think of my lesson planning being complete for months in advance, meal preps, my “feels like endless list” getting checked off finally. Maybe, not sure if my head would be spinning. Very interesting persoective . Happy new year all. Blessings!

Love the concept of mentally breaking hours down into days. My day is organized in this way already but this thought process helps me. Balance is very important to me, so yes accomplishment and pushing toward goals is important but also it’s extremely important to enjoy the moment. Carpe diem! If 2020 has taught me anything it’s that tomorrow is not promised. So after my first “day” of specific goals my next “day” could be dance party with daughter or romantic dinner with husband (just have to get him to break up his “days”😘). We’re both intense driven individuals but like yesterday’s video said if we walk a little faster during the day we can have more time together at night.

I actually really like this new concept. I feel like breaking down our days into smaller chunks gives you a chance to be more clear on what you are doing. I always try to have a plan for my day, but it is never really organized as much as I try. I feel like this concept will really keep me organized on what I am doing with my day. I cant wait to try this out!

Oh, I think I’m too young for this but I can probably use this in the future. On the other hand, my sister could use it. She is in HSC and organization and it isn’t compatible with her school. I will show her this method

I don’t think you can be ‘too young’ for this method, per say. I think that you can always use this method, but altered to your needs. For example, you can’t complete school in the first 6 hours, but you can aim to finish goals that you have within 6 hours, or do 1 day of work in them. This especially applies to the weekends, where you don’t have a set out school schedule. There’s also the potential of not sleeping long enough (6 hours isn’t really enough), so you could shorten the days a little bit more, so that you get more sleep in, or maybe have 2 days of 8 hours instead.

This concept seems really helpful. School days might be a little iffy, since you can’t really speed up the school day, or the classes. After school, I only have 6 hours left, or 1 “day”. I have clubs/extracurriculars/classes for a few hours afterwards, and there’s always my homework. During my flex/lunch period, I study with my friend. My school day schedule doesn’t really have much room left, but I could see this as really useful for weekends.

In terms of the video itself, I mostly agreed, but there are a few parts I don’t agree with.
I don’t think we should ignore the past; It’s valuable and teaches us. For example, if you got hurt when trying to touch a stove a year ago, the past will teach you not to try that again, because of the bad consequences that are tied to it.
I also don’t think that the idea of a 24-hour day is just made up nonsense that people followed. When an hour was made, scientists thousands of years ago realized that 24 of those units of time was equal to a rotation of the earth. Our bodies are programmed to follow the rotation of the earth.

I find it very interesting. I definitely think that I can try this and try to not spend a whole day doing something or some things but try to do six hours of doing all of that and then I’ll realize how much I can accomplish and I think that would be a really good thing to learn. I definitely know that you can get so much more done when you have a time Spand because when some people have a short amount of time to do things they get so much done and that’s almost what he was trying to say. If you think that six hours is all you have in a day then you’re going to get so much more done because you have less time and there’s less time to procrastinate because you know that you have a certain amount of time to get it done so you are going to get it done.

I feel like this makes sense because if you apply this then you will not have time to second guess your actions. This allows you to go with your gut, I honestly don’t know because this sounds like i’m saying some version of winging it.

Trusting your gut can be a risky. I like to think over everything and all possible outcomes from best to worst. I do this to insure I make correct decisions but in the end, sometimes I am still wrong. That’s just life I guess

“If you knew how close you were, you would run faster.”
I needed that video. I’ve been disregarding lifting because I can’t play or workout on the court. When I evaluate my performance, I feel ashamed but nothing really changes.

The concept of the 6 hour day is genius! Breaking daily tasks down in sections i feel will relieve anxiety and reduce/eliminate procrastination while creating a sense of urgency. Itll make you result oriented and laser focused on what needs to be done. And combinding that attitude with hourly review or even as a beginner, per 6 hour (daily) review to make adjustments along the way will greatly impact your growth on whatever path you choose to embark on. Looking forward to implementing this mentality propmptly in my life.👍👍👍👍

I love this concept of a six hour day and feel as if I am doing it. With the kids on a hybrid schedule for school I have been cramming all my “chores “ into the time the are at school. Last year, I had the whole school day to get these chores done. Now I’m squeezing the same chores in a 3 hour window. And, when the kids are finished with school- that time from 12-6 becomes my time with them. I am feeling much more productive.

I listened to this 2 days ago and couldn’t wrap my mind around it. Today I came back to it and mind blown. I am setting up my 6 hrs days to help me advance the different responsibility roles simultaneously. I feel that I lose the latter part of the 24 hour day when I transition from one role focus to another. Having 6 hour days I can schedule a different role focus for each one. I will keep you posted on my progress.
